Announcing PDF/A Best Practices Bundles

pdfaPilot Server

pdfaPilot product box

callas pdfaPilot Server 2 automatically ensures that input PDF files are valid PDF/A on output. Its powerful watched-folder operation allows unequalled automation, operation and integration with Appligent Document Solutions tools or others.

pdfaPilot Server 2 uses the same validation technology as callas software licensed to Adobe® for the Preflight functionality in Adobe® Acrobat® 9 Professional.

February 18, 2010, Lansdowne, Pennsylvania -- Appligent Document Solutions today announced the immediate availability of PDF/A Best Practices Bundles to support implementations requiring PDF/A.

Offered together with Appligent's server software for PDF manipulation at a special discount, pdfaPilot Server allows new and existing Appligent Document Solutions server software customers to add PDF/A conformance validation into their existing workflows.

“Best practice for document workflows that require PDF/A output is to use distinct vendors for the PDF manipulation and PDF/A conformance functions,” said Appligent Document Solutions CEO Duff Johnson. “Adobe Systems itself takes this approach; that's why it licensed callas's PDF/A validation and conformance technology for Adobe Acrobat,” he said.

“Of course, document management integrators and developers want complete solutions AND best practices, so we decided to team up with the world leader in PDF/A conformance to provide comprehensive support for PDF/A on the server,” he said.

“We're looking forward to rolling out pdfaPilot to Appligent Document Solutions customers, especially in government and financial services,” said callas software Managing Director Olaf Drümmer. “We're very pleased to see pdfaPilot as a complement to Appligent's existing products, and we'll be introducing Appligent's own PDF stamping, security, digital signature and other applications to our own customer base as well,” Drümmer said.

callas software's pdfaPilot is available as a command-line application or as an SDK, and may now be purchased directly from Appligent Document Solutions. When purchased in a bundle with Appligent Document Solutions server software, the overall bundle is discounted 5%.

Existing Appligent Document Solutions server-software customers with current support are also eligible for the bundle pricing on licenses of pdfaPilot.
