Glossary of PDF Terms

The Carousel Object System (Cos) is the underlying object model used by the Adobe Acrobat plug-in SDK.  The Cos layer provides access to the building blocks used to construct documents. Cos methods allow plug-ins to manipulate low-level data in a PDF file; such as dictionaries, names, streams, strings and number objects.
