Hot on the heels of last week's announcement that it will adopt Adobe's PDF Library, Appligent Document Solutions has released its first updated product that uses the new library. StampPDF Batch 5.0 is now available for Windows, Linux and AIX, and versions for Mac OS X, Solaris and HP-UX versions are due for release by year's end.

The first cab off the rank in Appligent's move to update its existing products with Adobe's PDF technology, StampPDF Batch can be used to add personalization, notices, watermarks, Bates numbers, page-numbers or images to PDF pages. Additionally, it can either process archives of existing files or set to stamp documents dynamically as they arrive.

"StampPDF Batch is already a mature product, with 10 years of development and thousands of mission-critical installations worldwide," said Appligent Document Solutions CEO Duff Johnson. "With the all-new StampPDF Batch 5.0, we leverage Adobe's PDF Library to provide the best-available reliability of any PDF stamping software, period. No matter the source, StampPDF Batch can process any PDF that Adobe themselves can open."

The updated software also outputs ISO 32000-compliant Adobe PDF documents, the gold standard in PDF file quality. StampPDF Batch 5.0 is currently available from the Appligent Document Solutions website. The software is available without charge to existing customers with current Support & Maintenance agreements.

In addition to updating the remainder of Appligent's existing product range, the company has indicated its intention to leverage Adobe's PDF technology by developing a number of entirely new products. Johnson offered a tantalizing hint of things to come, "In just a few weeks, we'll launch a revolutionary new product for the enterprise document space," says Duff Johnson. "The software will reduce downtime in many business document workflows, removing a significant source of pain for organizations managing significant volumes of PDF files."
