APGetInfo
Are your PDF files encrypted? Do you need to know what types of fonts are embedded in your PDF files? Or do you think your PDF file is corrupt. APGetInfo can provide you with the information you need.
With APGetInfo you can retrieve:
- Document Description Information including author, title creation date, file size, number of pages and more.
- Bookmark information including page numbers, named destinations and total number of bookmarks.
- Report page size and rotation
- Font Information within PDF
- Annotations including notes, highlights, pop-ups and links.
- Form Field data including name, type, value and Tool Tip text.
- XML Metadata from PDF documents that support the Adobe Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP).

APGetInfo is a multifunction, command-line utility that retrieves information from PDF documents without Adobe Acrobat. Execute it from the desktop or a server to extract the data you need from a single file or a large volume of documents.

Types of Information Retrieved
Document Description Information.
Obtain data that identifies a document, including author, title, creation date, file size, number of pages, and more. This is similar to the descriptive information you would find with Adobe Acrobat’s Document Properties feature.
Font Statistics.
Find out the name and type of fonts used, and whether they are embedded in the document.
Page Size and Rotation.
Display the coordinates of the full page and the printable page area within the margins, as well as the degree of page rotation.
Bookmarks.
Get a list of bookmarks—-links to specific pages or views—that optionally includes page numbers, named destinations, and the total number of bookmarks. Format the list to show or hide bookmark levels using numbers and indention, or display the full document path of each bookmark.
Annotations.
Retrieve information about annotations, such as notes and highlights; popups associated with annotations; and links. Add the color and coordinates of each annotation to the output, if you wish.
Form Fields.
List the name, type, value, and alternative name (tool tip text) of each form field. Form fields include text boxes, multiline text boxes, check boxes, combo boxes, list boxes, buttons, radio buttons, and signatures.
XML Metadata.
Export XML metadata from PDF documents that have been saved in or created by Adobe Acrobat 5.0 or above. The metadata is specified in XMP, Adobe’s eXtensible Metadata Platform. Both PDF and XAP schemas are displayed.
Modes of Operation
You can run APGetInfo in a variety of ways:
Basic operations The simplest way to run APGetInfo is from the command line. Option flags are available to tailor the output.
Automation options APGetInfo can be scripted for multistage processing and used with Appligent’s other products as part of a complete PDF workflow solution.
Optional Web service Expose the functionality of one or more retrieval
utilities to your entire network with APConductor, a separate Appligent
Web service product. Use it to programmatically pass the function parameters
each utility needs with just one SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol)
call per utility.
All of the retrieval utilities are
compatible with PDF 1.2 and higher.
