APSplit
APSplit is a streamlined server-based solution for splitting PDF documents without the sophisticated assembling and finishing features of AppendPDF Pro.
- Split files by bookmarks or page ranges
- Works with single documents or collections of documents
- Include bookmarks from the original file
APSplit is an independent, stand alone application that does Not use Adobe Acrobat.

Key Features
Multiple split options. Choose the extraction method that best suits your needs. You can split documents by:
Individual pages. Each page in the original document becomes a new document.
Odd pages. All of the odd pages in the original document are split into a new document.
Even pages. All of the even pages in the original document are split into a new document.
Page ranges. A single page
range, consecutive page ranges
of the same length, or multiple page ranges of any size
and from any location in the
original document are extracted
to one or more documents.
First-level bookmarks. Each first-level bookmark section in the original document becomes a new document.
File size. The original document is split into one or more new documents based on a maximum output file size and page count that you specify.
Retention of annotations. Save the annotations from the original PDF document in the extracted output, if you wish.
Linearization. Optimize output PDFs for faster access and viewing when downloaded from the Web or a network. Linearization is also called "Fast Web View".
Modes of Operation
You can run APSplit in a variety of ways:
Basic operations. The simplest way to run APSplit is from the command line. Option flags are available to tailor the output.
Automation options. APSplit can be scripted for multistage processing and used with Appligent’s other products as part of a complete PDF workflow solution.
Optional Web service. Expose APSplit functionality to your entire network with APConductor, a separate Appligent Web service product. Use it to programmatically pass the function parameters APSplit needs via a single SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) call.
APSplit is compatible with PDF 1.2 and higher.
